I know of three things that could help if you're getting high ping: Open your windows command prompt (sorry mac users :P), and type ipconfig /flushdns This should flush your DNS cache, and get rid of previous IPs from game servers you've played on previously.

High ping spike every few seconds. Closed. So if I'm playing an online game, say Counter Strike Global Offensive, the ping spikes really high for a second, then reverts back to normal.
